A human being is made of a body, a soul, and a spirit. Each of these components is essential for one to be a human. Without one of these three, one ceases to be a human being. In this piece, we are going to explore the importance of each component especially in regard to our nature as children of God and our salvation in Christ Jesus. In addition, we shall also see why Jesus came in the flesh and why God the Father resurrected Him with His very body that was nailed to the cross.
What is the body? The body is that part of our being that interacts with the physical world or realm through the five senses. The five senses we possess are smell (nose), sight (eyes), sound (ears), taste (tongue), and touch (skin). Our body also comprises of the internal organs we possess like the kidney, liver, heart, etc. All these come up to the body and are very essential.
The soul is that part of our being that comprises our emotions, will, personality, and mind or intellect. The soul cannot be physically touched or experienced. All our emotions; happiness, sadness, satisfaction, love, awe, etc. are found in our souls and can be expressed physically through our body by either crying or smiling or screaming, etc. The soul also plays the medium role between our bodies and our spirits. Our spirits have access to our bodies through the soul and vice versa.
The spirit is the part of our being that relates to the divine and spiritual realm. It is the part of our being that knows God; the part that gets born again; that is exactly like Jesus when we become born again or born of God. John actually brings out well in his account of the night encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3,3 UKJV
Being born again has been accredited to a lot of negative energy by religious circles simply because they don’t understand what it means for one to be born again. It simply means to be born of God or born from above. A person becomes born again or born of God or born from above when they believe in Jesus as their savior. And this further implies that one has been saved and that salvation is eternal (Heb. 10,12).
The moment one becomes born again, it is their spirit that is born of God. The day we believed in Christ Jesus, we became born of God; we were saved (Rom. 10,10.13) and God begot us as His children. The bible actually assures us that we get new spirits, created after the image and likeness of God.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold all things have become new. 2 Cor. 5,17 UKJV
When we believed or when one comes to believe in Jesus, we receive a new spirit that is exactly like Jesus (1 John 4,17). It is in this new creation spirit that the believer has;
- All the anointing they and knows all things (1 John 2,20)
- All the spiritual blessings ((Eph. 1,3)
- Everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1,3)
- Eternal communion with God (John 14,23)
- All the healing for any kind of illness (1 Pet. 2,24)
- The righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5,21) etc.
Everything God has freely given to us is found in our new creation spirits. Our new creation spirits are 100% saved, holy, pure, redeemed, sanctified, righteous, justified etc. And all this is a gift from God. We do not merit or earn it, but God has freely given all these to us; that is why we speak of His grace (unmerited and undeserved favor and blessings of God).
Since our spirits are saved 100% the moment we believe in Jesus, one might wonder: “what becomes of our bodies and souls? If all things are new, why do I still have the same body and the same mindset or emotions or personality?” This will be covered in the second part.

Thank you Matthew for this reflection, it is really nice.
I’ve noticed since i was initiated to grace that, believing in Jesus does not mean that one should just go and sleep since he already has everything. However, it is good to always feed our souls (mind) with the word of Grace, this helps our bodies and souls to align themselves with the born again spirit.
Thank you so much Matthew, please keep it up… You and Chio do really inspire me, i am soon starting serious ministry as well, teaching the word of Grace to the world.
The world needs to hear this good news, it’s really sweet and effective.
I am patiently waiting for part 2 of this!!!
